The RPA Human(e) AI warmly invites scientific staff members of the UvA who have a broad interest in or are working on AI, who are interested in the ongoing work in the area, the research opportunities, as well as connecting with like-minded people across the Faculties, to the event:
‘Connecting Humane AI at the University of Amsterdam’
The event will occur on Friday 10 November 2023, from 9h15 to 17h00 at the KNAW, Kloveniersburgwal 29, Amsterdam.
Over the last years, there has been a substantial investment in several Faculties at the University of Amsterdam into new research and education related to human-centred Artificial Intelligence. UvA sees AI developments affecting all parts of society and culture and has made it one of its main focus points in the last few years. It is easy to get lost in the many initiatives and programmes.
The rector of the UvA, Professor Peter-Paul Verbeek will open the event at 9h15, followed by a short introduction to Humane AI by Professor Claes de Vreese.
During the morning session of the event that will last until 13h00, Professor Maarten de Rijke (ROBUST), Professor Julia Noordegraaf (HAICu/CLARIAH) and Professor Natali Helberger (AlgoSoc) will participate in the first panel discussion on national projects, chaired by Professor Sonja Smets. Professor Paul Groth (Data Science Centre), Professor Ivana Isgum (RPA AI for Health Decision-Making) and Professor Thomas Poell (RPA Global Digital Cultures) are members of the second panel discussion, chaired by Professor Tobias Blanke.
For the afternoon session of the event, we invite UvA scientific staff members to join us from 14h00 to 17h00 in more in-depth discussions on the themes directly connected to Human(e) AI, sparked by the presentations offered by some of the cross-faculty teams that received Seed Funding projects of the RPA Human(e) AI.
