The last few days to start your year as a researcher at the University of Amsterdam!

The Faculty of Humanities and the Research Priority Area in Humane AI at the University of Amsterdam currently has a vacant Postdoc researcher position as part of the broader field Humane AI. Within this field, the focus is on data and platforms for social, cultural, and economic innovation. The post is to be affiliated with one of the five Research Schools within the Amsterdam Institute for Humanities Research or the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation. This postdoc position is dedicated to exploring possibilities how to bridge the gap between often abstract AI principles such as transparency and responsibility and strategies for the democratisation of AI that reach citizens. AI democratization cannot be limited to expert engineers auditing or controlling technologies from a detached vantage point but needs to involve everyone and especially those communities that are most affected by AI but lack a voice in its design. Driving this involvement can be a key role for the humanities in the further development of AI.
The deadline for applying is 1.09.2022.
Are you a machine learning researcher or statistician who is passionate about causality and its applications for domain adaptation and optimization? We have a vacancy for a postdoctoral researcher in the recently established Mercury Machine Learning Lab (MMLL). In this lab, researchers from the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) will be working together with data scientists from Booking.com to develop the statistical and machine learning foundations for a new generation of recommendation systems. Motivated by real-world problems faced in industry that involve domain adaptation and optimization, we will investigate fundamental scientific problems regarding generalization and bias removal from a causal perspective. As part of the MMLL initiative, the University of Amsterdam is inviting applications for a postdoctoral researcher in causal inference under supervision of prof.dr. Joris Mooij.
The deadline for applying is 31.08.2022.
